Effect of Chewing Gum on Thirst in Kidney Failure Patients: Review

Aims: Complaints of thirst accompanied by dry mouth are the main complaints hemodialysis patients with poor compliance due to excess fluid intake, inability restrict fluids, and high interdialytic weight. The interventions carried out overcome include sucking ice cubes, gargling boiled water, chewing gum. effectiveness gum for people CKD is still debated. Objectives: purpose this study was determine benefits in overcoming on hemodialysis. Methods: electronic databases used research PubMed, ProQuest, MEDLINE (EBSCO), Google Scholar. A search reading materials identify discussions that fit inclusion criteria. keywords were "chewing gum", "hemodialysis," "thirst." Results: We found 2350 articles based keyword, seven meet criteria after going through a series article selection actions. Conclusions: This review recommended as an alternative therapy kidney failure patients.
